I AM: The Light of the World
John 8:12; 9:1-38
From Series: "Advent: I Am"
These words of Jesus are some of the most audacious words ever spoken. They echo God’s self-disclosure to Moses. Just in case we miss His point, Jesus repeats Himself: “Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father”. In other words, if you want to know what God is like...look at Jesus. The gospel of John gives us multiple statements from the lips of Jesus, filling out the picture of Who God is: “I am the bread of life...the good shepherd... the light of the world....” These claims not only show us the character of God, they speak to our deepest needs: “He is bread for hungry hearts...the shepherd for wandering and aimless souls...and light for a world covered in darkness.” Join us in exploring what we learn about God by looking at Jesus as we enter this Advent season.
