SERVE OUR NEIGHBORS

We love because God first loved us

One way we go out into the world to live for a story greater than ourselves is by loving and serving our neighbors.

GraceCares is our local compassion ministry. We partner with local nonprofits that care for the poor and marginalized in Silicon Valley, supporting their work with both financial support and hands-on volunteering.

Why do we serve?

The Bible calls Christians to care for those in need. Isaiah tells us to “seek justice, encourage the oppressed, defend the cause of the fatherless and plead the case of the widow” (Isa. 1:16b-17). Jesus tells his followers that when they care for “the least of these” — by feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, and visiting the sick and imprisoned — they are doing it to him (Matt. 25:35-45).

Yet we do not serve out of a sense of obligation, to check a box, or to gain reward. We give because we are recipients of God’s love and when his love fills us, it inevitably overflows to those around us. And as we care for those in need, we are witnesses to the world of God’s desire for justice and his heart of compassion.

How can I serve?

GraceCares partners with ministries that serve a range of populations with different needs and challenges, from the unhoused and those experiencing food insecurity, to foster and adoptive families and underprivileged youth. See the GraceCares Service Opportunities list to find the best service opportunity for you, your family, or your community group.
