Lent 2019: Christ the King
Luke 19:28-48
From Series: "Lent: Repent and Believe"
Every day, it seems, new stories surface revealing the moral failings of others. Indignation and cries for justice inevitably follow – and often rightly so. But alongside these calls comes a whole lot of virtue signaling and finger-wagging. We are quick to point out the failings of others and slow to recognize our own. But even when we do experience the pain of self-discovery – or worse, crash and burn – we find little hope is offered for healing and change. The gospel brings good news. The Christian life is a life of turning back in order to move forward. The biblical word for this is repentance, and repentance is about a return. Where the world screams, “Pay down your debt”, the gospel pleads, “Turn and receive forgiveness and life...again and again and again.” Join us for the Season of Lent as we explore the role of repentance in the Christian life.
